Bangladesh Takes Control with Rana’s Brilliance and Aggressive Batting

Rana’s Bowling Masterclass

Nahid Rana achieved his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket. This led Bangladesh’s strong performance on day three against West Indies in Jamaica. The visitors now lead by 211 runs. This is special for Bangladesh. It’s only the second time they’ve gained a first-innings lead after scoring less than 200 runs themselves.

West Indies’ Dramatic Collapse

West Indies had a good start but lost their way completely. They went from 85 for 1 to 146 all out.

Rana bowled impressively and took 5 wickets for 61 runs. He showed his power by:

  1. Hitting Kemar Roach’s shoulder twice
  2. Bowling at 142kph to dismiss captain Kraigg Brathwaite
  3. Using the Sabina Park pitch’s bounce well

Collective Bowling Effort

Bangladesh’s success came from all their bowlers:

  1. Taskin Ahmed took important wickets, including Alick Athanaze
  2. Spinners Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz also got wickets
  3. The morning session was very productive – seven wickets fell for just 65 runs in 25 overs

Tension and Counterattack

The second innings started with tension. Umpire Kumar Dharmasena had to step in several times. This was because of:

  1. Aggressive fielding
  2. Verbal exchanges between players

Bangladesh lost Mahmudul Hasan Joy early. But they fought back strongly. Shahadat Hossain came in at number three and attacked. He scored 28 runs from just 26 balls, including four boundaries.

Building the Lead

Shadman Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz formed an important partnership. They played aggressively and hit ten boundaries in four overs.

Individual performances:

  1. Mehidy hit four boundaries in a row off Shamar Joseph
  2. Shadman made a solid 46 runs
  3. Mehidy scored a quick 42 runs from 39 balls

Late Day Resistance

Both set batsmen got out after tea. But Bangladesh stayed strong through:

  1. Litton Das’s batting
  2. Jaker Ali’s support

West Indies had a problem. Their key bowler Kemar Roach didn’t bowl until the 31st over. This helped Bangladesh score more freely.

At the end of the day:

  1. Bangladesh reached 193 runs for 5 wickets
  2. They are in a strong position to control the match
